Wheatgrass - full power!

Wheatgrass: from hippie fodder to hipster grass

Wheatgrass, especially wheatgrass juice, has long been part of health-conscious eating, detox fasting and the like. And its advance can no longer be stopped. Rightly so!Wheatgrass and wheatgrass juice. Naturopathic practitioner (Heilpraktiker) Berlin, colon hydrotherapy and colon cleansing

What makes wheatgrass so special?

Wheatgrass contains a wide range of nutrients. Just a few grams of wheatgrass are said to contain more nutrients than several kilograms of organic vegetables!

Why green, anyway?

The chlorophyll content of wheatgrass is one of the highest of all plants. In naturopathy, chlorophyll is described in connection with blood formation, oxygen transport and detoxification.Wheatgrass is a plant-based protein source. In a direct quantity comparison, wheatgrass contains twice as much protein as chicken eggs and eight times as much as cow's milk. This also explains the muscle development of grazing wild animals. The protein contains all 8 essential amino acids, i.e. those that the body cannot produce itself. Amino acids are, among other things, crucial for a smoothly functioning metabolism, an important building block of good health.Wheatgrass is particularly rich in alkaline minerals such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and manganese, and in naturopathy it is described in connection with the acid-base balance.Of course, there is also no shortage of vitamins (including A, C, E and B vitamins). Wheatgrass even contains vitamin B17, which is rather rare in plants.

Growing wheatgrass yourself

  1. Let the seeds germinate in water for 1-2 days until they have developed small roots.
  2. Fill a shallow tray with organic soil (approx. 5 cm). There should be small holes in the bottom of the tray for ventilation and  drainage.
  3. Spread the seeds on the soil and water several times a day.
  4. After about a week, you can already harvest

Wheatgrass juice

You can make wheatgrass juice yourself with a juicer. A juice press with a slowly rotating press roller is best suited for this in order to avoid heat build-up and oxidation. Thanks to the particularly gentle juicing, the sensitive enzymes and nutrients are almost completely preserved.Drink the juice as soon as possible, as valuable nutrients are lost after just 10 minutes. The wheatgrass shot is the highly concentrated form of pure wheatgrass power. It is best enjoyed in the morning on an empty stomach, so that the intestine can optimally absorb all the ingredients.Wheatgrass juice should be dosed carefully, especially at the beginning, as wheatgrass juice may initially cause digestive problems, headaches or nausea. So simply increase the amount slowly.Incidentally, wheatgrass is obtained from the cotyledons of the wheat plant and is completely gluten-free.
