Collecting a Urine Sample - Test Instructions for Patients
When collecting your first morning urine with the urine Monovette, please follow the procedure below. This helps us deliver results from the laboratory that are as accurate and unaltered as possible. 1. Is your test kit complete? First, please check whether your test kit is complete: 1 x urine tube (Monovette) with labeling field and yellow tip, 1 x urine cup, 1 x shipping container. 2. Collecting the first morning urine. a. Your first morning urine is needed as the sample. Please note that at least 8 hours should have passed since your last meal. b. Please use midstream urine for the sample: first pass a little urine into the toilet; collect the following urine in the urine cup. It should be filled about halfway. Pass the remaining urine into the toilet. c. Now take a tip and the yellow urine tube, twist off the front part of the yellow cap and attach the tip. d. Dip the yellow tip into the urine and use this tube to draw some of the urine from the urine cup by pulling the plunger at the back all the way out. The urine tube should be filled completely. e. Remove the yellow tip and carefully close the urine tube again with the yellow cap. f. Please break off the pulled-out plunger at the predetermined breaking point so that the rest of the plunger no longer protrudes. g. Place the urine tube in the shipping container and close it carefully. h. Please dispose of the tip, the broken-off plunger and the urine cup with your household waste.
