Testosterone deficiency, lack of desire, loss of performance or little muscle growth. Testosterone deficiency can show itself in different ways.
Testosterone is the most important male sex hormone
It is mainly produced in the testes, and to a small extent also in the adrenal cortex. It reaches its highest concentration between the ages of 20 and 30; after that, production in men declines fairly steadily by about one percent per year on average. However, one in five German men under the care of a general practitioner has blood levels of the hormone that are too low. This was the result of a study by several German university hospitals.
Testosterone is important for:
- Sexual functions
- Bones and muscles
- Fat and sugar metabolism
- Cardiovascular system
- Blood formation
Clinical symptoms of testosterone deficiency:
- lack of muscle strength
- declining physical performance
- Libido disorders, erectile dysfunction
- Osteoporosis (brittle bones)
- Anemia
- increased blood sugar, up to diabetes
- High blood pressure
- depressed mood
- increased sweating
