Kinesiological muscle test

By Yesha KarmeliPublished Updated

What is the kinesiological muscle test?

The kinesiological muscle test is a naturopathic method used to look for blockages on the physical, emotional and mental levels. The basic idea of the kinesiological muscle test is that a muscle reacts to stress – in the form of a substance, information, emotion, etc. – by briefly “switching off” or giving way. This brief initial reaction of the muscle is not consciously controlled by the mind. Stress-inducing factors can be, for example, substances such as foods, medications or dental materials, but also information and emotions.

History of applied kinesiology

The founder of “applied kinesiology” - and thus of the kinesiological muscle test - Dr. Charles Goodheart assumed that every large muscle is connected to an organ, and that the weakness of a muscle usually also represents an energy problem of this organ. In 15 years of research in the 1970s, using and trying out various methods, he developed his concept according to which working with a muscle should also address the corresponding organ.

The kinesiological muscle test as a body feedback instrument

The energetic blockage becomes noticeable through a weakening of the muscles on the meridians of the organs involved. The kinesiological muscle test – according to the kinesiological understanding, a simple feedback system of the body – is intended to provide information about stressors and blockages in the flow of energy.

What is the kinesiological muscle test used for?

This diagnostic method is based on the analysis of the muscles and their control of the musculoskeletal system. In kinesiology, indications of functional disorders of the body are derived from this. In addition, every muscle is energetically connected to organs and biochemical processes, and its reaction thus gives us indications of blockages and disturbances. This method also makes it possible to test suitable medications and appropriate interference clearing "muscularly."

Testing is carried out using kinesiology

Testing is carried out using kinesiology. In kinesiology, a person's muscles are used like a measuring instrument. Our muscle response shows whether we are stressed or relaxed. It has been observed that psychological and physical disturbances (stress) manifest themselves in the voluntary muscles in such a way that their holding strength suddenly weakens.

What can be tested with kinesiology?

  • Medications

  • Allergies and intolerances

  • Dental materials

  • Functional disorders of body regions

In our practice, kinesiology is used, among other things, as a complementary method when testing dental materials; it is not scientifically proven and does not replace medical or dental diagnostics. We will be happy to explain the method to you at an appointment.
