Essential oils and the aromatogram
Essential oils are studied in numerous laboratory studies for their properties against fungi and bacteria. An aromatogram shows in the laboratory how a specific pathogen reacts to various oils. It is not a substitute for antibiotic therapy prescribed by a physician. An aromatogram is a laboratory test that examines how certain pathogens react to essential oils: using a swab, it determines which oil shows the strongest inhibitory effect in the laboratory test. Incidentally, the same procedure is also used for antibiotic resistance testing. In naturopathy, aromatograms are prepared for the following topics, among others; the treatment of infections belongs in medical hands:
- Vaginal infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Sinusitis, pharyngitis, etc.
- Bronchial diseases
- Skin diseases, e.g. acne
The aromatogram at Natura Heilpraxis
We send a swab from the site of infection to the laboratory. The resulting aromatogram forms the basis for an individually tailored therapy plan. From it, we put together individual oil blends. Antibiotic therapy prescribed by a physician is not replaced by this. With the help of the aromatogram, an individual aroma formulation (oil dispersion bath, inhalation oils, nasal oils, wound ointments, vaginal suppositories, etc.) can then be prepared.Testing resistance with an aromatogramTesting the resistance of bacteria and fungi with essential oils.
