Amalgam Dental Fillings

By Yesha KarmeliPublished Updated

Amalgam is a compound of 50% mercury and 50% of a mixture of tin, silver and copper in varying proportions. It is popular as a dental filling because its softness allows it to adapt wonderfully and it is stable. Due to this mixture, the mercury is considered to be securely bound in the tooth, but the mere fact that many amalgam fillings have to be replaced every few years indicates that, over time, particles come loose in the form of crumbs or through abrasion when chewing hard foods, through teeth grinding or through consuming acidic foods and drinks, and thus enter the body.

These particles and especially the vapors are considered to be very hazardous to health. Some of them can leave the body again without causing harm and are simply excreted via the intestine; however, autopsies have found an extremely increased mercury content in the brains of people who had amalgam fillings in their teeth. Through the vapors produced by abrasion, mercury enters the blood and the brain via the lungs. In naturopathy, various diseases and complaints such as Alzheimer's disease, depression, nerve disorders, attention disorders, headaches, fatigue and allergies are discussed in connection with amalgam fillings.

Unfortunately, it is precisely the removal of amalgam fillings that releases toxic vapors. If you decide to have them removed, you should make sure that the removal is carried out professionally by a dentist, with all precautions being taken.

Elimination in naturopathy After the removal of amalgam fillings, naturopathy offers elimination concepts with algae, herbs and infusions.
